Our buddy, Tom Banks, was DoP for Purity Ring‘s latest music video, “Fineshrine”, directed by Young Replicant. The video was released a couple days ago, and today it was posted on Music Video of the Day as well as on Vimeo’s Staff Picks! Tom sent me some BTS photos a couple weeks ago after the shoot wrapped, and I was excited to hear that a major portion of the music video was shot using our LED lights! Since our lights played a key role in this production, Tom and I thought it would be great to do a “special feature” video-post talking about how F&V’s lights were utilized. We will sit down (over the internet) and discuss different aspects of the shoot. Tom will also show us some lighting diagrams, so you can see how he acheived such gorgeous visuals…cause let me tell you, this video is purdy, real purdy. For our first installment we were lucky enough to sit down with the talented Tom Banks, DoP of the highly anticipated music video for Purity Ring‘s new track “Fineshrine” off their new album Shrines. The video was directed by Young Replicant, and for those of you who may not be familiar with their work definitely check out some of their projects, their videos certainly do not disappoint. Since the video’s release, reviews and buzz around the community have only been positive. Not only is it a killer track, but the video pulls you right into their dreamy musical landscape. Tom was able to pull off some beautiful shots and since our lights played a key role in the production, we thought it would be great to ask him what lighting package he had and what techniques he used to get those images.
